原文：The new season starts today, October 1st, and will end on Summer 2008 with the World Championship.
Along with this announcement, the ESWC confirmed the first four games that will be played in the new season.
Counter-Strike 1.6 will once again be played in two different tournaments, one for male and one for female teams.
"We think CS 1.6 is still the best version for competition to date," the ESWC said in the official page.
"It is also the most played version. We have signed a licence agreement with Valve for CS 1.6 and we thank them for their support and their trust in our project."
Blizzard's real-time strategy game Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne will also be played in the tournament, just like Nadeo's TrackMania Nations.
Although only four titles have been confirmed so far, the ESWC announced that more should be confirmed before the end of the year, including a pure first-person shooter gamer.
"There will be at least one pure FPS title announced before the end of the year," the ESWC stated.
"We have to wait and evaluate the mess of new games released the upcoming weeks. We want to take the time of a good choice and built its success with the communities of players."
According to the official announcement, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer game should also be played in 2008 season, with the ESWC staff waiting for an international agreement with the Japanese company before announcing the soccer game.
